AirTech™ Electrically Conductive Polypropylene Duct Systems

Eliminate Risk of Ignition from Static Discharge

Simtech AirTech™ PPs-EL is a flame-retardant homopolymer polypropylene that is also electrically conductive.  This material is formulated with electrically conductive carbon particles for extremely low surface resistivity. Simtech PPs-EL is ideal for use in any industrial environment where there exists the potential for ignition of explosive gasses or airborne particulates by the discharge of static electricity.

PPs-EL was developed in accordance with the introduction of Europe’s ATEX (Atmosphere Explosive) directive of 2003. The ATEX Directive 94/9/EC regulates explosion protection in mining and in industry and applies to any products which are used in potentially explosive atmospheres.  The use of PPs-EL protects from the following ignition sources:

  • Hot surfaces
  • Flames
  • Hot gases
  • Mechanically generated sparks
  • Electrical equipment (sparks)
  • Electrical equalizing currents
  • Electrostatic discharges
  • Shock waves inflowing gases
  • Chemical reactions
  • Ionizing radiation
  • Ultrasound
  • Lightning strike

Lower Your Costs of Installation and Ownership

AirTech PPs installs easily and quickly because the molded socket fittings require only back-welding with a hand-held hot-air welder or, for larger sizes, an extrusion welder.  Ask our air-handling experts for help specifying the correct welding techniques for your project.

Like every AirTech system, PPs-EL features molded fittings that are specifically designed for efficiency  – requiring less power (smaller fans/blowers) to move air through the system and eliminating the need for costly, time-consuming on-site fabrication of mitred fittings.

PPs-EL System Features:

  • Duct pipe up to 55”
  • Molded fittings, dampers, etc. up to 39”
  • Lightweight
  • Broad Chemical Resistance
  • Easy to install with hand-held hot-air or extrusion welder
