Halar® ECTFE Piping Systems

ECTFE Succeeds Where Metals and Lined Pipe Often Fail

Like Kynar, Halar® ECTFE is a fluoropolymer offering a unique combination of chemical resistance, surface smoothness and purity, making it ideal for highly demanding industrial and some high-purity applications.  ECTFE is often specified where metal alloys and lined stainless steel have failed.  Key characteristics of Simtech ECTFE include:

  • Extreme chemical resistance
  • Low permeability
  • Outstanding fire resistance
  • Excellent weatherability
  • Excellent release properties
  • Good abrasion resistance
  • Molded fittings
  • Stress-relieved for superior resistance to stress cracking and chemical degradation

ECTFE is a partially fluorinated semi-crystalline polymer consisting of ethylene (E) and chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE).  It is resistant to most acids at very high concentrations and many chlorinated chemicals at temperature from -40°F - 280°F including:

  • Sulfuric acid
  • Sodium hypochlorite
  • Chlorine gas
  • Chlorine dioxide
  • Bleach
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Ozone
  • Solvents.
