Highly Corrosive Aqua Regia Fume Exhaust Handled Safely and Efficiently

OVERVIEW

Aqua regia is a highly corrosive mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid used to dissolve gold and other metals. The fumes put out by this solution are also extremely corrosive and toxic. A general contractor working for one of the world’s largest producers of copper and gold needed to complete a lab ventilation job under a tight deadline. This laboratory’s conditions required a duct material capable of standing up to the aggressive fumes from the aqua regia used in their research and development processes. Standard sheet metal duct material was not up to the task.

Our AirTech® flame-retardant polypropylene fume exhaust system provides corrosion resistance far superior to galvanized and stainless steel, PVC and CPVC, and a much longer system life. Over the course of just a few days, Simtech mobilized to produce and ship the needed ventilation components over a weekend so the material could be on the jobsite in time to meet the tight deadline successfully. The AirTech® molded socket fittings made installation fast and easy and provided improved airflow and operational energy efficiency compared with fabricated or mitered duct fittings of other materials.
